The Last Day

Shopping and eating. That was how we spent our last day in Siem Reap.

The morning was spent at Psar Chas (Old Market). Our purchases included sunglasses (I bought 2 pairs, including one huge pair that'd probably make me resemble a housefly), North Face pouches, silk scarves and ambers. Along the streets, we found a push cart selling sugar cane juice squeezed with orange (the Thai 'nam song' kind) and pineapple. Having walked under the scorching sun and stuffy Psar Chas the whole morning, the juice was the perfect thirst quencher at US$1 for 8 packets!

On the way back to unload all the stuff we'd bought into the guesthouse, we chanced upon a shop selling clothes. There were items from Polo Ralph, Armani Xchange, Morgan, Nine West, Miss Sixty, Coach, Abercrombie & Fitch..... And they looked authentic enough. And we convinced ourselves that they might just be the real stuff as there was only one piece of each item in the shop! So we bought clothes to add on to the sunglasses, pouches, scarves and ambers. I mean, we need some clothes to match the accesories with right?

The highlight of lunch at Soup Dragon was Soup Chnang Dae - Cambodian claypot steamboat. Yummy.

After lunch, it was more shopping again. This time at Central Market. Pretty much the same stuff as Psar Chas. I managed to get 2 pairs of shorts, a photo album to hold all the temple ruin pictures and Lonely Planet Vietnam at US$4! (No prizes for guessing where I'm headed next.)

After walking and shopping for a whole day, it was good to have some good food amidst a pretty ambience at Cambodian Kitchen. We sank our tired butts into large cushy chairs behind glass beaded curtains at the balcony.

After dinner, it was happy hour till 10pm at Smiling Sun Restaurant and Pub.

Having satisfied our tummies, we headed back to Mandalay Inn to pack and get an early night's rest in preparation for an early flight tomorrow.

We had a great time in Cambodia, thanks to the Khmer family (the owners of Mandalay Inn) who arranged our transport and itinerary for all 4 days! The assignment of huge rooms is much appreciated too! Check out our double and single rooms! They could have fit 3 or 4 in a room!

And here's the littlest member of our host family...
