Brownies and Japanese Rolls

Cooking Girl and I went for our first baking class last Friday.

It was quite fun baking the brownies and japanese sweet rolls. Mixing, moulding, shaping, rolling...

And watching people do funny stuff. Believe me, lots of weird and funny stuff happens in the kitchen when you have a big group of people trying to follow instructions and work with semi-industrial machines. The last time I witnessed such stuff was during home economics classes in Sec 1.

Check out the machines...

The cooking teacher gave instructions, and one of them went something like that, "....then you turn on the mixer to the desired level.......when it's mixing, dun put the hand in ah"

Seriously, would anyone do that with a mixer that looks like that??? We didn't think so, so Cooking Girl and I sniggered. Only to have the teacher say, "Why? Got people do you know!"

Anyways, in a span of three hours, we transformed these...

to these!

One thing I couldn't understand though, was why we had to wash up. I thought the $36 was inclusive of everything? Cooking Girl was nice enough to do most of it. I will attempt to wash up more on our next class.

But how come we have to wash up huh?

The Effects of Boredom

As always, this time of the year's a little slower than most months. So there are times of the day when we get really bored at work. Which leads us to start finding things to do. Funny stuff sometimes.

Today, a part of my conversation with Cooking Girl via msn went like this:

Purples: Boring leh.

Cooking Girl: Haha. Me too. Very bored. Let's play some games.

Purples: Ok! What you want to play?

Cooking Girl: hmmmm.....Eagle catch chicks? hahahah

Purples: Ok. Where? Outside ah?

Cooking Girl: Ya. Or the roundabout. We can play badminton or tennis.

Purples: You got rackets and shuttlecock ah?

Cooking Girl: Use the files and erasers la.

Purples: ???

I guess she was REALLY bored.

Eagle Catch Chicks. Better known as "Lau Ying Zhuo Xiao Ji". It's been yonkers since I last played that game. And screamed like mad while at it. Funny....why must scream ah?

So because "Lau Ying Zhuo Xiao Ji" would have gotten us screaming the office down, and files and rubbers aren't good alternatives to rackets and erasers, other options that came up that required just people were:

1) Pepsi Cola 1, 2, 3
2) Set Set Set. (this is the "mi mi mi re mi fa soh mi" one....)
3) Ji Ku Pa

It's been yonkers since I played these games too! So when I heard them, I cracked up.....and I couldn't stop. When I finally did stop laughing, it was time for lunch.

Or rather shopping.

Presenting, the latest addition to Purples' wardrobe...

Ok, I'm off to catch some shut eye now. Gotta get up early tomorrow for a run with Shades of Pink, RT and Mr Celica who's gonna be cycling. Does he really think we can keep up with his bicycle??? Hmm. Actually, with my new motivator, maybe I can. :p

I Did It. Again.

Since season 2 of the Prison Break series that Oyster loaned me ended at episode 13, I figured it was time to start following the ones aired on TV, starting last week.

Last week, I fell asleep watching it when they broke for commercials.

As I was dead tired last evening, I figured I'd take about an hour's nap and wake up at 1030pm. Then I thought better of it (cos I am never ever able to wake up), and decided to watch Wimbledon, then switch to Channel 5 at 10pm to watch UTT on "Incredible Tales", then Wentworth on "Prison Break" at 1030pm.

But I fell asleep la. TSK.

By the time I got up (almost midnight), the TV was still on Channel 24, showing grass courts.

This morning, my mum said, "I thought you said you were gonna watch Prison Break? I went into your room, the TV was on and you were fast sleep! Always liddat"

Haiz. Don't rub it in can or not? I missed TWO sessions of eye candy already you know!

Over Reliance.

This is the very reason why I do not rely on the reverse sensors of a car.

The owner of the above car has admitted that he's over reliant on his reverse sensors. Hmm.

You see, as with most, if not all technology, there're bound to be limitations. In NCWT's case, it was the blind spot at the middle of the bumper, which the sensors cannot detect. So last night, while reversing, the "all-clear, please-continue-to-reverse" signal from the non beeping of the sensors caused our friend to head backwards, and into a low lying concrete block located right smack at the blind spot. And voila! He now has TWO bumpers!

Unfortunately, our new car came with reverse sensors, and it's been irritating the hell outta me. It seems to beep the very minute I am in reverse gear. Why in the world do they make stuff liddat???

The Secret Mission

The mobile rang.

"Hi. Where you?" she asked.

"Home." I replied.

"Ok. I'll be over in about 5 to 10 min with it. When I'm there, I'll buzz you and then hang up. Keep your phone with you k?" she instructed.

"Ok." I said.

My mobile rang again about 10 minutes ago. A mere two rings, and then it stopped. Just as she'd said she'd do. So I did my part and went to meet her at the gate.

And I got my new buy delivered to my doorstep. At 2330hrs. Better than Pizza Hut delivery. :)

And before I get condemned for being an ingrate, "THANK YOU VERY MUCH, SHADES OF PINK".

More Than Meets The Eye

I was all ready for a gym session or a run this evening when I got a call from Magneto asking if I was keen on attending the gala premiere of Transformers.

Transformers. Hmmm. Not the kind of show I would watch, really. Not even the kind that would make it to my "Movies To Watch" list. But I guess it's one of those that when people ask you if you've seen it and you say, "no", they go, "huh???". Somewhat like Spiderman or Pirates. So since the tics were complimentary and it was a gala premiere, I took up the offer.

And I didn't regret it one bit.

The effects of the vehicle-to-robot changes left me in awe. The change from Megatron to a plane, Bumble Bee to a Chevrolet, Optimus Prime to a truck....it was pure visual orgasm.

And contrary to what I thought, there actually was a story line. A touching one at that.

I now also understand boys' fascination with the Transformers, Mask, Robocop and the likes.

Because it was a gala premiere, they were giving out Tranformer masks. I now leave you with TransformHER...

Still Wondering...

This morning, my favourite cousin decided to get me stumped over an English grammatical question.

1) A Unique Experience
2) An Unique Experience

Which is it?

My Middle Child

My middle child. Got scolded by the father for not concentrating when doing her chinese work. Fell asleep on the bus till the driver did...
