My Motivation

To lose weight, that is. So that I can better fit into my latest wardrobe addition, which I plan to wear in 2 weeks time.

"It looks great. Just need to lose the tummy. Can see a bit." Shades of Pink said. I know my good chums don't lie. :(

Usually, when I get such comments, I tend not to purchase the item. But this piece... I fell in love with it the very moment I laid my eyes on it a week ago. And it's got 2 strips of my favourite colour in it! So today, a week later, it's in my wardrobe.

But before I put that on again, I have to don this...

... and start losing that tummy. Just did a run today. 2 weeks more of runs and gym sessions to go.

Beating The Monday Blues

Since it's a Monday and nobody really likes the idea of working on a Monday, Digital Curls, Ms Troublesome, Cooking Girl and I decided to do some shopping over lunch. It was during this shopping spree that I realised I have friends who are not very helpful in my attempts to save.

While on another shopping spree last week, I had specifically told them that if we were to go on another spree this week, they were not to let me purchase anything. For the simple reason that I am no longer officially on the company's payroll. As such, my pay this month will come in late. So until I am shown the money, I am not to spend it.

It was all in vain.

After lunch, I ended up with another 3 pieces of clothing. Last week, it was 4 pieces of clothing, $20 worth of hair clips and a pair of shoes. And not forgetting the facial protectors I had invested in. I daren't think of the hole I've burnt in a span of 2 weeks.

After all the shopping today, Cooking Girl found one side of her shoe in this state...

I suggested that she do the Mentos stint they show in TV commercials. She decided instead, to drop by the Shoe Elf across the office to get it fixed. But alas, the repair was beyond the Shoe Elf. So we headed to U.R.S., didn't find anything suitable, and proceeded to Charles and Keith.

"If cannot find anything at Charles & Keith, there's always VNC. If not, there's Suntec." quipped Digital Curls.

We managed to shortlist a few pairs for Cooking Girl at Charles & Keith.

"The patent ones are nice!"

"This one makes your feet look really slim."

"You have such nice, fair legs. You should get this pair."

All these comments came from just one person, whom I feel must be the greatest culprit in thwarting my saving plans. Digital Curls. Most of my shopping was done with her.

Today, as Digital Curls and I were heading to the station to catch the train home, we decided to pop into Robinsons to check out the shoes.

Look what I came home with.

Ok babes, we've decided what's for lunch tomorrow. So remember to wear something that allows for easy trying of clothes ya? ;p

It's Been A While

By the time I woke up this morning, it was in-between breakfast and lunch. So I decided to have 2 rounds of brunch. Hotcakes from the golden arches followed by dough fritters (youtiao) with kopi-o. Nice. Especially the latter as I haven't had it in a while.

I realised there are quite a few things I haven't done or had for quite a while. Youtiao and kopi-o is one. Cycling is another. Ever since I started running at the beginning of the year, I've put cycling on hold. So I haven't met my usual cycling mates for quite a while too. This afternoon, I made it a point to go cycling with Mr Celica. I met him halfway toward Fort Road, and then we headed towards Changi. It reminded me why, perhaps, I switched to running. Kids with no sense of direction and danger are annoying. Can somebody explain to me the thrill these kids find in weaving in and out, left and right? Very style issit? Illiterate pedestrians who can't seem to keep on track are equally annoying.

On our way back, we decided to stop for some ice-cream. He had the durian flavoured one sandwiched between 2 wafer slices, and I had the icicle ones, which I realised, I haven't had in quite a while too! Lion Stick. Very refreshing.

I came back and had my first shower (yea, I know a first shower at 6 in the evening is quite gross) of the day. I haven't done that in a while too. The one shower a day thing. RT came back from his golf session, and we went for a dinner. By the time I got home and got myself tucked into bed, my thighs and knees were aching like crazy from the 6 month hiatus from cycling. That hasn't happened in a while too. Thank goodness Mum had a tube of Salonpas cream.

Growing Mushrooms

The supervisor's tactics and actions of time-buying, delaying, shirking of responsibilities and non-ownership of tasks results in the following in the employee:

Feelings: Frustration. Exasperation. Annoyance.

Virtue Learnt: The art of waiting. Patience.

Possible Physical Result: We wait. And then we produce mushrooms.

Seriously.

Because nothing is ever done on time. The buck is passed from one person to another, with no one claiming responsibility or doing anything about it. So we are kept waiting and waiting and waiting. Most times in vain.

The fungi see the opportunity and attack.

This afternoon, as we walked past a patch of garden area located just outside our department, we realised that even that garden patch had sprouted some mushrooms.

I wonder what they were waiting for.

The Con of Women

The typical woman would have, on her dresser, the following items:

1) toner
2) moisturiser
3) eye cream
4) sunblock
5) foundation
6) make up (lipstick, blusher, eye shadow, mascara, eye liner)
7) make up remover
8) skin whitener

And in her handbag:

1) loose powder
2) make up (lipstick, blusher, eye shadow, mascara, eye liner)

I have none of the above, save for a coloured lip balm in my handbag, which I hardly use anyway.

Sometime during the week, a conversation I had with Miin while we were freshening up after lunch in the ladies convinced me to invest in at least a sunblock.

"It's important to at least use a sunblock. When you're young, you don't see it, until the accumulated harm causes the skin trauma. It happened to me and I had huge pigmentation patches on my face, which got worse with time. So I had it treated by Woffles Wu over a period of 6 months. Cost me almost 20 grand you know."

Her last statement did it.

I now have, on my dresser, moisturiser, eye cream and sun block.

I still feel that the overpriced prevent-your-skin-from-wrinkles, whiten-your-face, remove-eye-puffiness serums, creams and lotions are marketing gimmicks used to support cosmetic companies' huge-ass expenses. They sure understand the vanity and paranoia of women.

And I think I've started my journey of being sucked into that world. Partially. The make up department has not gotten me yet. I'm not a big fan of make up, so till someone convinces me that there are preventive measures to the skin that make up provides, I'm happy with the occasional coloured lip balm.

Mid Day Dilemma

About half an hour ago, Digital Curls and I felt some hunger pangs. Actually, considering the amount of food we had for lunch, it's more greed than hunger, really. Anyway, we took a walk across the shit hole to get something from Bread Talk.

That's when the dilemma began...

Digital Curls: Hmm. Chocolate croissant or doughnut?

Purples: Chocolate croissant. It's really good. The chocolate layer is damn thick.

Digital Curls: What are you having?

Purples: The chocolate is sinful, but the doughnut is fried. About the same amount of sinfulness, so I think the chocolate croissant la. But the doughnut also nice. How about we take both and then we halve them.

Digital Curls: Good idea!

So, we ended up having both without feeling too sinful. Half of each is better than one of each right?

Deliverance.

Finally.

Deliverance.

Liberation.

Salvation.

Call it whatever you like.

It simply means: Purples got herself out of the shit hole!

Yeah!

Congratulations....and

Celebrations.......

When I tell everyone I got out of this shit...... :))))
