Got woken by the barking of the dogs whilst I was asleep. Nothing unsual about that since the smaller one Barkley barks at the slightest motion of people strolling outside the house. But it was a tad weird when I checked the time and it was freaking 413am in the morning. And then Jamie joined in and they were barking for the longest time - not the usual see-passerby kinda bark.
So I decided to pop halfway (i.e. the staircase landing) down the stairs to see what was happening. Part of me expected to find someone, while the other hoped it was just a really really slow stroller passing by. But a stroll at 413am hardly seemed normal. By the time I got to the landing, the dogs had heard me coming and had stopped barking. I did a quick check around the living area. Doors and windows still closed with nothing seemingly amiss.
I headed back up to the room, but came down again to do another check. Still didn't seem like anything was amiss. So I headed back up and tried to get back to sleep. It was a bit tough, especially when the nieghbour's dog started barking.
Anyways, I eventually got to sleep, only to be awoken barely and hour later by my mum.
Mum: Where's your handbag ah?Purples: On the chair downstairs by the telephone table.Mum: It's not there you know. And how come your car keys were in the neighbour's house?Purples: Huh? What car keys in the neighbour's house?Mum: You go down and check. See where your bag is.This was when I thought, "Shit! So there actually WAS somebody the dogs were barking at IN my house at 413 am earlier on."
I headed downstairs, to be greeted by Mr Policeman.
Mr Policeman: Mam, what colour is your handbag?Purples: White.Mr Policeman: Ok. It's in your neighbour's house. Can you go over to identify it and check if any item is missing?Purples: Ok. (wondering how in the world my handbag had gotten into my neighbour's house)
I headed over and was brought to a room with items ranging from key pouches to 4D tickets strewn all over the floor! So from this mess, I identified what the farker of a burglar had taken, all the while praying that he had NOT taken my identity card and credit cards. That would have had been total trouble and inconvenience.
After analysing the scene, here's what we found:
- $80 missing from my wallet
- $40 missing from my neighbour's trouser pocket
- no fingerprints from both houses
- an improvised hook (made from a bamboo pole, a clothes hanger and some string) which he had used to hook his catch from my neighbour's house
- an unlocked window through which he probably slipped his hand to steal my handbag
The hook he had made was quite amazing. He must have intruded into my neighbour's place when he realised my dogs wouldn't stop barking. And he must have spent quite a bit of time there making his hook. So I reached for my camera to take a picture of the hook so that I could blog it... and guess what? I relised that the farker had taken my camera too!
He's a real ass. I sure am glad he only got away with $120.
$120 cash. Was it really worth the trouble, Farker?
I could be praying that your fingers mysteriously disintergrate, or that you meet a rotweiler crossed with a pitbull who robs you of your manhood in your next burglary attempt. But no, I shall be praying that you intelligently decide to get a proper job so that you don't have to rob. A decent job that pays you
$121 a month.
Jamie and Barkley, you get new treats for a job well done!
