Me, The Word Twister??

That's what my husband called me after we had this conversation a couple of days ago.

Me: My whole body's aching. Can massage for me?

RT: Ok (Then, as usual he proceeds to do a "not-very-satisfactory massage" and the stops after about a minute as he's watching telly)

Me: Eh how come your massage always like that one ah?

RT: We go Bangkok then I bring you for a very good massage. You want the Thai one or the other type?

Me: I think the Thai one is good. Which one do you prefer?

RT: The Thai one is quite painful. That's the one we had in Cambodia issit?

Me: That's what I had in Cambodia. I dunno about you cos I was in a separate room with Charmaine. :p

RT: I also had the same thing la. Please la, that kind of massage woman, how to do anything?

Me: Oh! So you mean if another kind then can la??

RT: That's not what I meant la. You ah, always like to twist my words one you know!

Me: But you said THAT KIND cannot what!

RT: AIYAH!

He sounded so exasperated I couldn't help laughing. It was really quite funny. But any girl would respond in the same way right?

Breast is Best?

Kieran turned 3 months on 7 November. He's still hates drinking from the bottle, and would rather sleep than drink. The last few evenings while being bottle fed, he cried like someone had bullied him big time. So we decided to shower him first. Upon hearing the sound of water, he stopped wailing. IMMEDIATELY. Terrible you know.

Then after his bath, he wailed again. We gave him the bottle but he continued wailing. So in the end, it was my breast to the rescue.

In the last 2 days, he's been trying to turn, only successfully turning his butt. Think the head's a bit too big! But today, he did it. Not sure if he can repeat it though.

3 months......

I only have ONE MONTH of maternity leave left! Shucks!

Lau Ma's Handmade Booties!

This pair of booties I'm wearing were made by my Lau Ma (great grandmother). Very precious cos she left us last July and no one else knows how to make them!

More booties to go round between my cousins! Some with pom poms, some with pearls and some with buttons! I think one of the Lau Ko's or Ee Ee's should go learn how to make these.....can't find them in the shops you know.

Baby Updates!

So I haven't blogged in a bit. But then, I haven't had time to sleep enough, let alone blog la. So here are some quick updates....

10 Oct 2009
Kieran went for his jab at 2 months and weighed 5.8kg and measured 61cm.

28 Oct 2009
Kieran did not pass motion for 3 days, which got me worried. So we brought him to the paed's only to find out that it's normal for breastfed babies to not shit for a week. So after spending $65 and inserting a suppository (just for peace of mind to see the shit texture), he did a big poop. Everything was fine. His weight then was 6.4kg and he measured 64cm. They grow too fast!

Since 2 weeks back, we've been trying to wean him off the breast and onto the bottle in preparation for my returning to work. Without much success. It's always a 1-2 hour battle with his Lau Ko Suang before he finishes a mere 50ml!!! He'd rather sleep and go hungry than drink from the bottle.

21 Sept 2009
Baby Marcus was born! Here's a pic of Kieran and Marcus at Dalvey Creche! By tomorrow, we'll need more space for Baby Lauren!

The Housewife Life

Half of my maternity leave is gone,
And I'm left with just two months,.
And in these two months I've done,
Some thinking on the stay-home front.

Two weeks the help was homeward bound,
And my domestic-housewife side I found.
Cleaning, washing and babysitting,
With the outside world I lost my footing.

If I were to be a housewife,
It's facing the pot, the mop and knife.
Losing touch with the corporate ways,
And smelling like I haven't washed in days.

So if I had the liberty to choose,
To be a housewife or a working mum.
It's my sanity I don't want to lose,
I'd rather work, than look like I'm from the slums.

Seriously, while the 4 month maternity has its benefits, it makes one realise the beauty of working. Not that I dislike the kid or anything, but facing him 24 hours a day and waking up 3-4 hourly can really drive me nuts. And it's even worse when you're half awake and he fusses, and nothing you do stops the crying.

And housework is no fun.

Having said all these though, remember that housewife is not tantamount to tai tai. A world of difference hor. The latter can hire a confinement nanny for a year, get domestic help and still do her own stuff.

Mary Had a Big Black Sheep?

Since Kieran was born, nursery rhymes have been revisited again. We sing them to him while putting him to sleep.

And sometimes we struggle to remember the words, or get them all mixed up.

Mum's version of Three Blind Mice:

Three blind mice (x2)
See how they run (x2)
They all ran after the farmer's wife
and cut off her tail with a carving knife
Did you ever see such a sight in your life
as three blind mice.

The tail of the farmer's wife???
RT thinks it's too much of a tongue twister.

RT's version of Incy Wincy Spider:

Incy wincy spider climbing up the wall
Incy wincy spider had a great fall

???

My dear husband, do you mean Incy Wincy Dumpty??

Try singing them and I'm sure at some point you'll get stuck. And somehow, the girls are better at it. I'll leave you with a few titles. You go try. It's quite fun, really.

Goosey Goosey Gander
Sing a Song of Sixpence
Mary Had a Little Lamb (3 proses)
The Little Nut Tree
HIckory Dickory Dock
Jack & Jill
Old Mother Hubbard
Little Jack Horner

Help is Back. Yeah!

For the past 2 weeks, our help returned home to celebrate Hari Raya. So mum and I have been doing the housework.

At 5am when Kieran wakes up to feed, I'll take out the brown rice from the fridge to thaw.

At 6am, mum feeds the dogs with the brown rice and dog food. Then she sweeps the floor and prepares my longan and red date drink, followed by watering of the plants.

At about 7am, I mop the swept floor. (The floor area is so big, sometimes when I'm too tired I just use one squeeze of the mop for the whole area)

Then I take our clothes to soak (I have stained one of RT's brown shirts pink, and tried to bleach it. Didn't work of course). After which, mum and/or I will handwash the clothes and then hang them out to dry (now I know why the help always wants the sun despite the heat).

In the afternoon, mum irons the clothes. (I have ironed one of RT's shirts). At 430pm, the dogs need to be fed again, and walked at 6pm.

All these while having to feed, bathe and put Kieran to sleep.

For 2 weeks, we've been eating "da pau" food.

The car was not washed for 2 weeks. (When mum finally got down to washing it on the 14th day, Ron decided to take over the washing rather than put Kieran to sleep! That's how difficult he can be sometimes)

Am I glad the help is back. :)))

Oh, what chores have the men done in the 2 weeks ah??

My Middle Child
